Type series: Cabanis (1893b: 312) explicitly based this species on a male and female deposited in the ZMB.

Syntype: ZMB 21342 (B-9982), 3, collected by Jelski on "1871 r. 28 Czerwca" (field-label) [= 28 June 1871] at "Boumatua [almost unreadable]. Maraynioc" (field-label) or "Couratua // Marayniok" (younger ZMB label) [= Maraynioc, Peru]

Syntype: ZMB 21343 (B-9982), Ƥ, collected by Jelski on an unknown date [= May - September 1871] at "Couratua, Maraynioc" (younger ZMB label) [= Maraynioc, Peru].

Type locality: "Maraynioc" ( Cabanis 1873b: 312), i.e. Maraynioc, Peru [11.37°S, 75.40°W].

Remarks: Taczanowski (1889: 12) listed five specimens in the MIZ as types of this species (see also Sztolcman & Domaniewski 1927: 178–179). None of these specimens, which had no type status, have survived (see Mlíkovský 2009b for details).
