Tropidonotus striolatus Theobald, 1868: 55 .—A replacement name for Tropidonotus tytleri Blyth, 1863 .

Status. A replacement name for Tropidonotus tytleri Blyth, 1863 . Synonymized with Tropidonotus quincunciatus by Theobald (1876: 175).

Comments. Because this taxon is a replacement name for Tropidonotus tytleri Blyth, 1863 , it has the same name bearing type as that species ( Fig. 12–13). In contrast to the statement made by Smith (1943: 293), the type of T. tytleri and T. striolatus is not lost; see above. Although Theobald (1868: 55) credited this species to Blyth, it is unclear to us why Theobald created a replacement name, basing his description on the same specimen as Blyth.
