Diagnosis. Males of S. carinata ( Figs 31 View FIGURES 30 – 38 , 40 View FIGURES 39 – 42 ) are similar to those of S. abaporu ( Figs 30 View FIGURES 30 – 38 , 39 View FIGURES 39 – 42 ) by the developed paraembolic projection, but can be recognized by the distance between this and the embolus, which in S. carinata is only as wide as the width of the embolus. Females can be recognized by the transversely positioned spermathecae (Fig. 134).

Description. Male (IBSP 116020). Total length: 3.93. Carapace orange, 1.88 long, 1.40 wide, 0.97 high (Fig. 129). Ocular quadrangle 1.02 long. Anterior eye row 1.06 wide and posterior 1.00 wide. Palp yellow (Figs 130‒131); RTA elongated, RvTA short and rounded, ITA well developed, wider at the tip than at the base, granulated. A spatulate paraembolic projection, and an acute end of the DEA seen beneath the retrolateral border of the tegulum. Legs 1423, I orange, II‒IV yellow. Length of femur: I 1.78, II 1.12, III 1.05, IV 1.33; patella + tibia: I 2.50, II 1.37, III 1.23, IV 1.68; metatarsus + tarsus: I 1.74, II 1.16, III 1.35, IV 1.72. Spination on ventral tibia I: 2- 0-2-2. Abdomen dorsally yellow, covered with orange scales and with a transverse stripe of white scales, interrupted at the middle (Fig. 129); ventrally yellow.

Female (IBSP 115986). Total length: 3.45. Carapace light brown, 1.65 long, 1.03 wide, 0.77 high (Fig. 132). Ocular quadrangle 0.98 long. Anterior eye row 0.99 wide and posterior 0.96 wide. Legs 4132, I light brown, II‒IV yellow. Length of femur: I 1.16, II 0.88, III 0.90, IV 1.14; patella + tibia: I 1.50, II 0.98, III 0.97, IV 1.42; metatarsus + tarsus: I 1.16, II 0.95, III 1.09, IV 1.44. Spination as in male. Abdomen as in male, except for a longitudinal, central dark brown stripe along its dorsal face (Fig. 132). Epigyne as in Figs 133‒134.
