Diagnosis. The species can be distinguished by the following characters: the pectinations of the male are short, about equal length of the diameter of the shaft, with a pair of teeth on the ventral surface of each pair of the pectinations; the vertex is white; the hind tarsus of the male is longer than one-third the length of the tibia; the ocellus of the forewing is large, slightly concaved between M veins on the outer margin, consists of almost complete black and silvery inner ring and a distinct white strip-like discal spot; the ocellus of the hind wing is almost pyriform, and completely fused to the small marking behind it. In the male genitalia, the tegumen has no spines on the internal margin; the socii are terminally fused, stout and long, the central part protrudes outwards on lateral sides; the aedeagus is narrow and long, bifurcate on apical one-third, and has no teeth on the manica; the narrow and long sclerotized band of the vesica is broadened and forms a spine-like cornutus terminally; the eighth sternite of the male is bifurcate and has no process centrally in the species and P. apollinaria .
