Plectromerus michelii Nearns and Branham, 2008 View in CoL

(Cerambycinae: Plectromerini) was described from two female specimens collected in the Cayman Islands. Thomas et al. (2008) provided a color habitus photograph of the holotype deposited in the Florida State Collection of Arthropods (FSCA), Gainesville, FL. Three additional specimens collected by E.J. Gerberg (Gainesville, FL) and deposited in the FSCA were recently made available; the first known male specimen and two additional females.

The collection data for these specimens are: Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman, Boatswain Point, Lime Tree Estate , on 16-XII-1977, 7-X-1980, and 27-II-1987 .

The following description supplements the description of this species using the methods indicated in Nearns and Branham (2008).

Description. Male. Length 5.5 mm, width 1.1 mm (measured across humeri). Habitus as in Fig. 1a View Figure 1 . Similar to female except pronotal sides with coarse punctures and prosternum with one irregular patch of coarse, deep punctures in front of each procoxa ( Fig. 1b View Figure 1 ). Metafemoral teeth with posterior edge weakly, shallowly serrate, with about 12 irregular serration “peaks”; each peak with a short, curved, pale hair; metatibiae slightly sinuate, about 0.7 times as long as metafemora ( Fig. 1c View Figure 1 ). Abdomen with terminal sternite broadly rounded, slightly longer than preceding sternite.
