Physocnemum brevilineum (Say, 1824) View in CoL View at ENA ; Callidiini [new state record]

Distribution: ME and southern PQ to TX to WI. Kentucky specimens of this uncommonly collected species were from just south of Cincinnati, OH ( Interior Plateau ; Map 141).

Kentucky counties: Campbell (2), nr (1)

Years: 2017 (1), 2020 (1), nr (1)

Months: June (2), nr (1)

Collections (3 records, 3 specimens): CMNH (1), XEUC (2)

Collection methods: panel trap baited with Ray lab blend (2)

Larval host plants: Only known to feed in living Ulmus americana ( Lingafelter 2007)

Comments: This once common species has declined with the elms it infests. Multiple authors noted that adults can be found running up and down trunks of infested elms (see discussion in Bousquet et al. 2017). While lures for species in this genus are unknown, two of the three Kentucky specimens came to a trap baited with the Ray lab lure blend.
