ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:1861b: 213 (key), 217 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing right wing) ( MZUF: Box 17): Phorantha Rnd. / musciformis Rnd. , ♂ / 932.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Phasia subcoleoptrata (Linnaeus, 1767) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 412, O’Hara et al. 2020: 601).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861b: 217) described both sexes Phorantha musciformis without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths. We found just two male syntypes in this study. The female syntype (s) is/are presumed lost.
