( Figs. 8–10 View FIGURES 8 – 13 )

Japanagromyza cupreata Sasakawa, 1963a: 27 View in CoL .

Remarks. This species was described by a single female from Vietnam in having greenish- or bluish-coppery mesoscutum and abdomen. The males examined agreed with the original description except for the presence of only one fore-tibial lateral bristle, and r-m situated at basal 1/3 of discal cell. Therefore, the possession of two fore-tibial bristles in the female holotype is not a diagnostic character for the species.

The male genitalia are described herein for the first time: surstylus narrower than epandrium, with apical spine; cercus with two strong setae on apex and a group of 10 or 11 setulae near anterior apex; proctiger with lateral processes extremely long, each with six or seven apical setulae. Hypandrium 660 µm long, sidepiece narrow, basal apodeme 1/5 as long as sidepiece; postgonite 170 µm long, as wide as hypandrial sidepiece, hairy along outer margin. Phallapodeme 800 µm long, broadened on basal 1/5; phallus 670 µm long; epiphallus short; basiphallic sclerites united distally; right hypophallus long and broadened distally, left hypophallus with narrow annulation; right paraphallus longer than left claw-like one; distiphallus long tubulous, narrowing distally. Ejaculatory apodeme 340 µm long, blade broadened asymmetrically. The hypophallus and paraphallus of this species are distinctive.

Material examined. THAILAND – 33, Phetchabun Prov., Khao Kho National Park, savanna at nursery, 16º52.568΄N, 520 m, 12–19. X. 2006, S. Chachumnan and S. Singtong, Malaise trap ( NHMLA).
