Diagnosis

Gestalt elongate ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10–18 ). Male: Elytron elongate, 2.62–2.85 X longer than wide. Outline of profemur subtriangular ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 73–75 ). Mesotibia subapically with rather inconspicuous posteriad directed lobe ( Fig. 77 View FIGURES 76–80 ), overall shape of mesotibia not subtriangular. Genital as in Fig. 85 View FIGURES 84–86 . Female: Elytron elongate, 2.47–2.72 X longer than wide. Protibia in apical third curved ventrad, widening towards apex; ventral angle of tibial apex somewhat protruded apicad, slightly shorter than premucro.

Description

Holotype, male. Length, pronotum + elytron: 3.98 mm. Coloration ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10–18 ) uniformly black with bluish lustre; scutellum and humeri slightly more greenish; antenna black. Head elongate, as in Fig. 37 View FIGURES 36–41 . Gena 1.26 X as long as width of head immediately behind eyes. Contours of genae in dorsal view markedly converging anteriad. Vertex dorsally subglabrous; laterally behind eye sparsely punctate with shallow punctures, in posterior half transversely rugulose. Eyes in dorsal view moderately prominent, set off from lateral contour of head. Profile of vertex with marked constriction some distance (ca. 1/3 of eye's length) behind eye. Ventral surface of head in front of gular region moderately sculptured; with shallow median furrow, anteriorly with sparse shallow punctures, posteriorly with obliquely transverse wrinkles. Rostrum 2.30 X as long as mouthparts; at widest point 1.46 X wider than at base; in profile dorsal contour above antennal insertion with weak rounded prominence, anteriorly in convex line to apex; ventral contour continuous with head, concave to hind level of maxillary cavities, then in straight line to apex; ventrally on submentum subglabrous, sparsely setose with short recumbent setae. Mouthparts. Prementum at base 1.6 X wider than long, ca. 2.1 X wider than at apex; with straight lateral margins converging apicad; apical processes subangulate, lateral ones long; median apical process short, retracted into more dorsal position. Antenna slender, as in Fig. 67 View FIGURES 56–72 . Prothorax as long as wide (1.00 X); preapical constriction absent; disc evenly convex, shining, impunctate; sides with dense, deep punctures. Metanotum with pair of distinct lateral lobes. Elytron elongate, 2.64 X longer than wide; striae basally moderately impressed, towards apex becoming shallower; apically intervals 4–6 forming blunt knob, projecting over sutural interval. Thoracic venter. Height of pterothorax 0.71 X length of elytron. Procoxa in anterior aspect 1.44 X as long as wide. Legs. Profemur ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 73–75 ) strongly asymmetrically clavate, strongly swollen, thickest at 0.42 of length from apex; basally widened to junction with trochanter, without basal stalk; general shape subtriangular with dorsal contour almost straight, ventral contour subangulate. Protibia long, evenly moderately curved ventrad; ventral contour parallel to dorsal contour. Mesotibia ( Fig. 77 View FIGURES 76–80 ) in apical third curving ventrad, on posterior surface subapically with posteriad directed lobe. Mesotarsus straight, 3.2 X as long as wide. Metatibia of similar size as mesotibia. Abdomen. Ventral contour concave from base to apex; without marked constriction between sternite VI and VII. Venter subglabrous, with sparse suberect setae; sternite VI with median knob in front of posterior margin. Pygidium 1.07 X wider than long; basally weakly microreticulate, apically shining; sparsely punctate with shallow punctures. Genitalia. Apex of tergite VIII curved in evenly convex line. Sternite VIII as in Fig. 179 View FIGURES 170–186 . Tegminal plate ( Fig. 128 View FIGURES 119–130 )) with sides subparallel towards apex; apical edge broadly rounded, densely setose with long setae. Aedeagus. Apical scoop of pedon ( Fig. 151 View FIGURES 148–159 ) ca. 0.78 X as long as wide, with lateral margins diverging in straight line to subtruncate apex. Tectum as in Fig. 139 View FIGURES 136–147 ; lateral frame converging with straight sides to narrow apex; medially hyaline except behind apex; subapically with narrow lateral arms. TA as in Fig. 96 View FIGURES 94–97 ; in lateral aspect relatively flat; transfer processes basally articulated inside of frame of TA, not reaching frame´s apex; base of transfer processes within basal half of frame; without distinct dorsal plate; internal support structures of ductus ejaculatorius long, reaching/ passing mid­level of basal sclerites; basal sclerites ca. 0.43 X of total length of TA. Cuticle of endophallus in apical 0.47 (of total length of aedeagus) with dense, subtriangular denticles; in mid portion with pair of elongate sclerites; without any setae between these sclerites ( Fig. 112 View FIGURES 110–118 ).

Allotype, female. Same as holotype except: length, pronotum + elytron: 3.73 mm. Head as in Fig. 52 View FIGURES 46–55 . Gena as long as (1.00 X) width of head immediately behind eyes. Profile of vertex without constriction behind eye. Rostrum 1.88 X as long as mouthparts; at widest point 1.52 X wider than at base. Prothorax 0.96 X as long as wide. Disk at middle with very shallow transverse impression. Elytron 2.54 X longer than wide. Thoracic venter. Height of pterothorax 0.72 X length of elytron. Procoxa in anterior aspect 1.16 X as long as wide. Legs. Dorsal contour of profemur sinuate, in basal third straight, continuing in markedly convex line to apex. Protibia in basal 2/3 straight, its apical third markedly curved ventrad; widening towards apex; dorsal and ventral contour subparallel; ventral surface almost smooth, weakly crenulate, with sparse short subrecumbent setae; tibial apex with uncus and distinct premucro; premucro in subventral position; ventral angle of tibial apex somewhat protruded apicad, slightly shorter than premucro. Apex of mesotibia and metatibia simple, with uncus and premucro, but ventral angle not protruded. Abdomen. Setose patch of venter 1.48 X as long as wide, consisting of 3 double rows of modified setae. Pygidium 1.21 X wider than long. Genitalia. Sternite VIII as in Fig. 197 View FIGURES 189–202 . Tergite VIII subrotund, apically subtruncate. Spermatheca as in Fig. 216 View FIGURES 204–219 ; basally with short siphon­like extension; shape robust, subisodiametric from insertion with gland to shortly before apex. Length of ductus spermathecae plus spermatheca 2.6 X as long as tergite VIII.

Intraspecific variation

Length, pronotum + elytron: males 2.95–4.38 mm (n=19, =3.64 ± 0.38); females 3.23–3.95 mm (n=26, =3.58 ± 0.18). Rostrum. Ventral contour either relatively evenly sinuate at hind level of maxillary cavities as in holotype; or, with distinct constriction behind maxillary cavities. Prothorax 0.93–0.99 X as long as wide in males (n=18, =0.96 ± 0.02), 0.89–0.97 X as long as wide in females (n=24, =0.95 ± 0.02). Elytron 2.62– 2.85 X longer than wide in males (n=19, =2.71 ± 0.07), 2.47–2.72 X longer than wide in females (n=25, =2.63 ± 0.08). Thoracic venter. Height of pterothorax 0.66–0.72 X length of elytron in males (n=19, =0.69 ± 0.02), 0.68–0.76 X length of elytron in females (n=25, =0.72 ± 0.02). Legs. Forelegs in smaller males disproportionally shorter than in larger males; profemur in small specimen just reaching apex of rostrum in forward position; in larger specimen distinctly exceeding apex of rostrum; protibia longer and more markedly curved in larger specimens. Abdomen. Pygidium 1.03–1.16 X wider than long in males (n=15, =1.09 ± 0.04), 1.11–1.28 X wider than long in females (n=23, =1.19 ± 0.04). Female patch of modified setae 0.97–1.65 X as long as wide (n=25, =1.25 ± 0.16). Aedeagus. Sides of apical scoop of pedon more or less markedly diverging towards subtruncate apex. TA somewhat variable in size, in some specimens about 75% the length of other specimens; apex may be rather elongate, tapering and rounded, or, shorter and subtruncate.

Etymological note

This epithet is based on a combination of the Latin adjective curvus (curved, bent) and of the noun pes (foot). It refers to the long curved protibiae of the males.
