Redescription

Holotype male (?). Integument black; prothorax reddish; clubs of femora reddishblack. Frons depressed at base, with fine, irregularly sparse punctures; clothed by silky, whitish pubescence at sides and base. Vertex with moderately coarse, deep punctures between eyes.

Antennae exceeding middle of elytra by 1.5 segments. Segments 3–5 sparsely pubescent, cylindrical, slightly expanded at apex; 3, 4 similar-sized, little shorter than 5; 6–11 whitish pubescent; 6–10 decreasing in length, 6–8 serrate, especially 6; 9–10 shortest; 11 oval, shorter than 3.

Prothorax subparallel at sides, somewhat sinuous behind middle. Pronotum and sides of prothorax with micropubescence almost inconspicuous, giving a silky gloss aspect under light. Pronotum slightly raised, with shallow longitudinal impression at basal half; without setae at apical half; latero-basal gibbosities rounded, somewhat prominent. Whitish pubescence of mesosternum, metasternum and urosternites moderately dense not obscuring integument.

Elytra glabrous, sinuously narrowed before middle. Disk depressed, especially at base, dorsal costa prominent from base almost to apex. Surface with coarse, deep punctures, irregularly seriate in three or four rows at basal two-thirds, separated by one diameter or more, becoming finer and irregularly distributed at apical third; one row of punctures between dorsal and lateral costae. Margins not asperate. Elytral apices rounded-truncate.

Peduncles of femora conspicuously sulcate and carinate. Metafemora surpassing elytral apices, at least, by the apex of club. First segment of metatarsi as long as the following two combined.

Measurements (mm) holotype. Total length, 5.9; prothorax length, 1.4; maximum width of prothorax, 1.0; elytral length, 4.0; humeral width, 1.3.

Type material

Holotype ( MNHN) from Brazil, Amazonas: São Paulo de Olivença, examined and labelled as follows: (1) São Paulo, Amazonas; (2) nitidicollis Bates ; (3) Ex. Museo H. W. Bates, 1892; (4) Museum Paris Ex. Coll. R. Oberthur.

Remarks

By body colour and elytra with prominent, entire dorsal costa, D. nitidicollis is similar to D. chontalensis Bates, 1872 , D. ruficollis Chevrolat, 1859 and D. mineira sp. nov., and differentiates by the glabrous elytra with margins not at all asperate. Up to now, D. nitidicollis is known only from the holotype described from the Amazonas State in Brazil. Dihammaphora ruficollis and D. mineira are related to the Atlantic forest, and D. chontalensis is known to occur only in Central America.

Bezark (2008) figured a specimen from Panama. However, it has the elytral margins asperate and the dorsal costae seem to be incomplete. Therefore, the identification of this example should be better investigated.
