Remarks: This species is distinguishable by its lightgray colored pileus surface which contrasts with the darkpurple colored hymenial surface, when mature. Auricularia mesenterica is the only species in the genus that can present an effused-reflexed basidiome ( Alvarenga et al. 2015).

Ecology & Distribution: Growing on deciduous wood. Worldwide distribution, in Brazil known for the states of Amazonas, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo ( Alvarenga et al. 2015). Our study provides a new record for the state of Tocantins.
