Remarks. Draco maculatus is distributed from southern China to extreme northeastern Peninsular Malaysia, where it is only known from Perlis, Langkawi, and Penang ( Grismer 2011b). Boulenger (1885) stated that D. maculatus is distributed from Yunnan to Singapore, but his conclusion was not based on any material (Smith 1930). All of the subsequent references for D. maculatus from Singapore likely refer to Boulenger (1885), although Sworder (1925) doubted this record since there were no recent documented records. Grismer (2011b) also pointed out that Boulenger (1885), Boulenger (1912), and Das (2010) erroneously reported D. maculatus from Singapore. Nonetheless, there are a few records of D. maculatus that actually represent D. sumatranus (see D. sumatranus account). Thus, evidently D. sumatranus was formerly confused for D. maculatus , as Cantor (1847a) also described.
