NOTES: Lister (1925) in the description of the variety wrote “recorded from Bedfordshire, Moldavia, Ceylon, and

Brazil ” but in BM we only found one box with “ A. insignis var. major G. Lister , Neamt, Moldavia, 8.1919, leg. Dr.

M. Brandza”, and notes in notebook XL: 19–20, which refer to a syntype. Ing (1967) raised the variety to species rank but the collection he designated as the lectotype ( BM 3215 ) was not found in BM. Two slides were found, collected by Higgins, one has the same data as the lectotype designated by Ing. Another slide from Luton, which has a later date and no number we consider to be a syntype .
