Drepanoneura von Ellenrieder & Garrison 2008

Dark, very small damselflies that easily avoid being seen ( Fig. 33 ). See von Ellenrieder & Garrison (2008b) for a key to the three species recorded in Ecuador. Eggs are laid in rootlets in slow or moderately flowing portions of small to mid-sized forested streams (pers. obs., KJT).

Note: Should be found elsewhere on the eastern slope of the Andes in southern Ecuador since it has been found at a number of locations in Peru.

Epipleoneura Williamson 1915

Small dark damselflies closely resembling Drepanoneura ( Fig. 34 ). For a synopsis of the known species of Epi- pleoneura consult Pessacq (2014). Other references include Selys (1886), Williamson (1915), De Marmels (1989), Racenis (1955) and Garrison et al. (2010). Habitats are shaded streams, similar to those where Drepanoneura is found and oxbow lakes; the two genera are sometimes found on the same stream.
