Peratochetvs limbipennis Rondani, 1863

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 43.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chiliae [ Chile]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold) ( MZUN: Box Coll. entomol. extra-europea, Gen. Grallomya a Celiphus): Peratochetus limbipennis Rnd. , Valdivia / M. Zool. N° 11476.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Alloclusia limbipennis ( Soós 1968: 2) ; junior synonym of Apiochaeta vitticollis (Blanchard, 1852) ( Lonsdale & Marshall 2008: 28) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 43) described Peratochetvs limbipennis , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from R.A. Philippi. Costa (1866: 34) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “744” from Valdivia [ Valdivia (southern Chile)]. Lonsdale & Marshall (2008: 5) incorrectly considered the type of this nominal species, originally deposited in the MZUN, as destroyed. We found one syntype in this study. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Peratochetvs ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Peratochetus Rondani, 1856 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 139).
