COMMON NAME (S): Jigsaw or Catocaline Moth.

SYNONYM(S): Ophiusa albivitta Guenée, 1852c ; Ophiusa festina Walker, 1858c .

DISTRIBUTION: Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Comoros, Croatia, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Greece, Herzegovina, Iran, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Libya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malta, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia , Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Portugal. Réunion, Sao Tome & Principe, Saudi Arabia, Serbia and Montenegro, Seychelles, Sicily, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria , Turkey, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Western Sahara, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Lusaka , in Lusaka Province; Chililabombwe, in Copperbelt Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants include Zea mays L. (Poaceae) and Ricinus communis L. ( Euphorbiaceae ) (Hacker et al. 2010). Additionally, the African Moths (2019) includes a yet to be identified Lantana sp. (Verbenaceae) , Malus pumila Mill. (Rosaceae) and Punica granatum L. ( Lythraceae ) as larval foodplants of the taxon.
