COMMON NAME (S): Saturniid or Edible caterpillars (“Finkubala” in “Bemba” one local language in Zambia).

SYNONYM(S): Bunaea ammon Karsch, 1898a ; Saturnia angasana Westwood, 1849 ; Bunaea hannibal ( Karsch, 1898a) ; Bunaea orientis Le Cerf, 1922 ; Lobobunaea phaedusaorientis Gaede, 1927 ; Bunaea tanganicae Sonthonnax, 1899a ; Lobobunaea weymeri Aurivillius, 1910c .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Mansa in Luapula Province ; Kasama in Northern Province; Kopa**, in Muchinga Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants include: one Apocynaceae species (Acocanthera sp.), one Anisophylleaceae species ( Anisophyllea laurina R.Br. ex Sabine ), one Icacinaceae species ( Apodytes dimidiata E.Mey. ex Arn. ), two Myrtaceae species ( Eucalyptus sp. and Eugenia cordata (Sw.) DC. ), one Anacardiaceae species

( Protorhus longifolia (Bernh.) Engl. ) and two Phyllanthaceae species ( Uapaca kirkiana M̧ll.Arg.and U. nitida M̧ll.Arg.) ( Pinhey 1972b).
