Current name: Plantago squarrosa
Syntype:—[ Greece] Kreta. Distr. Sphakia. Insel Gaudos. Im Dünensande der Nordküste: 2 March 1904, I . Dörfler 1148 ( WU 0099192 ) .
The label reads “ var. gavdensis ” referring to the island of Gavdos/Γαύδος, however in the protologue this was changed to “ var. gaudensis ”, a deliberate Latinisation.
