Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 31 Dec. 2006 and 20 Apr. 2010; a video of a specimen taken in Senta Passage , southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea east to Hawaiian and Tuamotu islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Commensal on seawhips, 3–45 m depth. Marine.
