Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 18 m depth, by Dean Tully on 9 July 2011; a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island , off eastern New Hanover , at 3– 32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Marshall and Phoenix island, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary or in pairs, on slopes of seaward reefs, 5–37 m depth. Marine.

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed on 3 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District; a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover , at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and Fiji, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on slopes of seaward reefs and in passes, 1–40 m depth. Marine.
