Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 24 Aug. 2010, and at 7 m depth by Dean Tully on 15 Sept. 2012 .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: South and East Africa east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Found in lagoons, often among algae, seagrass or sponges, 2–72 m depth. Marine.
