Mimosa aff. rondoniana Hoehne

59. * Mimosa aff. rondoniana Hoehne

A single collection (R. de Michel & S. Beck 1243, LPB) from Beni provides the first record for ser. Rondonianae of sect. Habbasia in Bolivia. Although in many respects this material is a good match for M. rondoniana (the only species in this series), unlike M. rondoniana, the Beni material is armed with scattered aculei on the shoots and leaf rachis. While it is possible that this represents and undescribed species, the Michel & Beck collection has few flowers, additional material of this interesting Mimosa  is needed to determine its identity with greater certainty.
