Martarega chinai is widely distributed in northern South America, also occurring in the southeastern region of Brazil (Figure 13B). In spite of resembling M. membranacea in having a median longitudinal stripe bifurcated near the apex of hemelytra ( Figure 5A,B View Figures 5–8 ) and similar right clasper ( Figures 4C View Figures 1–4 , 5D View Figures 5–8 ), M. chinai can be recognized by the format of the left clasper, which is distinct, with a longitudinal carina along its length ( Figure 5E View Figures 5–8 ). The alleged “nodule” on ventral surface of male mesotrochanter ( Figures 5C View Figures 5–8 ), which differentiates M. chinai from M. membranacea , is a group of short bristles as observed in M. gonostyla ( Figure 8C View Figures 5–8 ). Females of this species can be distinguished from females of M. membranacea by their hemelytral process not extending to tip of membrane ( Figure 5B View Figures 5–8 ). In female M. membranacea , the hemelytral process visibly reaches the apex of membrane ( Figure 4B View Figures 1–4 ).
