In spite of resembling  M. membranaceain having a median longitudinal stripe bifurcated near the apex of hemelytra ( Figure 5A,B) and similar right clasper ( Figures 4C, 5D),  M. chinaican be recognized by the format of the left clasper, which is distinct, with a longitudinal carina along its length ( Figure 5E). The alleged “nodule” on ventral surface of male mesotrochanter ( Figures 5C), which differentiates  M. chinaifrom  M. membranacea, is a group of short bristles as observed in  M. gonostyla( Figure 8C). Females of this species can be distinguished from females of  M. membranaceaby their hemelytral process not extending to tip of membrane ( Figure 5B).
