Sollas ( 25, p. 431) a établi la synonymie de Tethea Ingalli Bow., T. Cliftoni Bow. et T. robusta Bow. Agitant la question de l'identité possible de T. seychellensis et de T. Ingalli, il a penché pour la négative en se basant sur des différences de structure de l'écorce qu'il est bien difficile cependant de considérer comme spécifiques. Cliona mucronata Sollas.
