Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honor of the first author’s mother, Edna Maciel Barbosa Silva.
Diagnosis. Both males and females of Myrmecotypus ednae spec. nov. resemble those of M. candianii spec. nov. by the elongate thoracic region (twice the length of the cephalic region), coxa I light brown and coxa II white. Males differ by the presence of an RTA and the embolus short and folded (compare Figs 18G View FIGURE 18 and 19G View FIGURE 19 ). Females differ by the epigynal transverse ridge recurved, with a large marginal sclerotized area (compare Figs 18I View FIGURE 18 and 19I View FIGURE 19 ).
