Description

Body size: Length: 3.85–6.63 mm. Width: 3.01–5.02 mm. Head: Clypeal carina with three tubercles on an equal level. Canthus ventral setae, scarcely noticeable score. Frons with a marked tubercle adjacent to each eye, depression marked by points between the carina and theclypeus. Pronotum: Anterior region of the pronotum with bituberculated structure and a small tubercle on each side of the central projection. Disc with sparse points unevenly distributed, median groove of the pronotum with two lines of points, starting at the back of the central structure up to the slope of the disc close to the posterior margin. Ventral region of the thorax: Metaventrite with a few unevenly distributed setae. Male terminalia: In dorsal view, elongated parameres joined at the base and separated at the apex, posterior margin seen dorsally ( Figure 8 View Figure 8 (g)). Parameres slightly curved in lateral view, forming an approximate angle of 45° in relation to the phallobase; posterior margin in lateral view with pointed and curved projection, almost reaching the parameres ( Figure 8 View Figure 8 (i)). Sexual dimorphism: This species does not feature sexual dimorphism. Remarks: The primary type is deposited at the CEMT.

Differential diagnosis. Bolbapium furtadoi sp. nov. is morphologically similar to B. baeri , B. limeirai sp. nov., B. luederwaldti sp. nov., B. minutum and B. quadrispinosum in presenting the forehead with a transverse carina interconnected by tubercles. However, it is easily distinguished from the other species because it presents a short bituberculated projection on the pronotum.

Geographical distribution. Brazil (Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo); Bolivia (Santa Cruz) and Paraguay (Villa Rica) .
