Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue mentions that the type of Urostigma geminum was in Lambert’s herbarium and later in Martius’s herbarium. Examining the BR collection, the herbarium that acquired several Martius types, the holotype was found exactly as the protologue describes. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) and Berg (2007) were treating the duplicate of the Utrecht herbarium ( U) as the holotype, but this must be corrected for the BR duplicate ( BR0000005418220 ). The protologue indicates that the type was collected in Peru, with no exact location, but the label on the Berlin duplicate says that the collection was carried out in Pozuzo, which we are following. Miquel (1853) noted that in the protologue it is mentioned that the epithet “gemina” comes from Ruiz, so the authorship of the name should be described as “Ruiz ex Miquel” (Art. 46.5) .

Taxonomical note:— Ficus gemina was synonymized by Berg & Villavicencio (2004) and Pelissari et al. (2019) as F. pertusa .
