Sparrea gomphophylla (Baker) X.G.Fu & T.S.Yi View in CoL in Fu et al. (2022: 17).
Basionym:— Celtis gomphophylla Baker (1887: 521) View in CoL .
Type: — AFRICA. Madagascar, Central Madagascar, without date, fr., R. Baron 3697 (lectotype, designated here, K barcode 000243044!; isolectotypes BM barcode 000757310!, P barcode 00562030!, P barcode 00562031!) .
Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. gomphophylla, Baker (1887) cited Baron 3697 without specifying the herbarium in which specimens were conserved. Sattarian et al. (2006) reported that the “ holotype ” was in K and that the “isotypes” were in BR and P. Four samples of Baron 3697 were located. Considering that Baker (1887) did not indicate the herbarium, and that the citation of “ holotype ” by Sattarian et al. (2006) cannot be considered effective lectotypification (ICN Art. 7.11), we propose that K barcode 000243044 be recognized as a lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), since this specimen has a greater number of fruits.
Taxonomic notes:— Accepted species ( Fu et al. 2022).
