Diagnosis. This new species is superficially similar to Scardia amurensis Zagulajev. The two are easily distinguished by the filiform male antenna and lateral bristles on the labial palpi of S. amurensis in contrast to the bipectinate male antenna and absence of lateral bristles on the labial palpi in P. owadai . Within Psecadioides , the spatulate lateral lobe of the uncus of P. owadai is unique.

Description. Male. Head. Vertex and frons covered with dense, erect, pale ochreous scales. Antenna length about 5.5 mm in male ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 F), about 0.5 x as long as forewing; scape with brownish gray scales, flagellum dark fuscous. Maxillary palpus very short, indistinct, with dark gray scales. Labial palpus 2.0 x height of head, second segment with dense brownish gray scales mixed with black mesally, dark gray scales laterally, with lateral bristles absent. Thorax: Dorsally covered with dense, black scales. Foreleg gray; mid- and hindleg with scales missing [damaged]. Forewing length 10.5 mm; forewing rather elongate, rounded apically, about 3.0 x as long as wide including fringe (about 2.9 x as long as wide excluding fringe); ground color brownish gray, except termen and posterior margin white mixed with black spots, about nine small white spots approximately uniformly distributed along the costa. Fringe black, short in apical area, long at termen; all veins present and separate, R1 arising from 3/8 of discal cell; R5 end the apex; 1A+2A 3.0 x as long as 1A; chorda present, extending to crossvein R-M. Hindwing relatively elongate, rounded apically, 1.7 x as long as wide including fringe (2.5 x as long as wide excluding fringe); ground color brownish gray mixed with broad and narrow scales, except basal 3/4 of costa with slender brownish gray scales; fringe short, longer along basal posterior margin, consisting of brown to gray scales; crossvein M-CuA present, M branched in discal cell. Abdomen: Dorsally black, with white scales at intersegemental junctions; ventrally grayish white; abdominal segment VIII without coremata: Male genitalia ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ) with uncus complex, consisting of three distinct sclerotized lobes, dl indistinct; ll strongly sclerotized and swollen, spatulate, connected with al; al small, digitate, bearing spinules dorsally; vl small, digitate with spinules. Valva with a median keel, ventrally with a distinct groove at middle; ventral portion of distal 1/2 along with longitudinal protuberance bearing long thick bristles. Juxta absent. Aedeagus ca. 1.0 x length of valve, mostly straight, slightly curved laterally, inflated basally; cornuti absent. Female unknown.

Holotype, 3, Laos: Sam Neua, Phu Pan, 1750 m, 15–17.X.2005, light trap, M. Owada. Deposited in NSMT.

Host. Unknown.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Laos.

Etymology. This species is dedicated to Dr. M. Owada, a distinguished lepidopterist at the National Science Museum Tokyo, Japan, who collected the holotype.

Remarks. The homology of the structures associated with the uncus is uncertain, and one of the lobes may represent the socius based on its articulation with the tegumen.
