This taxon was described from a single specimen collected at «Cane River, Louisiana ». The holotype, a female in USNM, is labelled «Cane River La. [handwritten]/Casey bequest 1925/Type USNM 47337 View Materials / UAIC 00044058 View Materials / ludovicianus Csy. [handwritten]/ holotype Loxandrus ludovicianus by [handwritten] R. T. Allen» .

The holotype (SBL ¼ 7.9 mm; ABL ¼ about 9.0 mm) is conspecific with the lectotype of L. collucens Casey, 1918 [ NEW SYNONYMY]. See comment under L. collucens Casey .
