Type material ( CHINA: Yunnan, Xishuangbanna, Mengla County, Menglun Town, Menglun Nature Reserve, leg. G. Zheng, canopy fogging): Holotype: 1 Ƥ, Secondary tropical seasonal moist forest (N21º54.390', E101º16.811', 612 m), 10 August 2007 (IZCAS-Ar. 19017). Paratypes: 5 Ƥ, same data as holotype (IZCAS-Ar. 19018–19022); 2 Ƥ, Primary tropical seasonal rainforest (N21º54.725', E101º13.261', 734 m), 8 August 2007 (IZCAS-Ar. 19023–19024).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective referring to the type locality: Menglun Town.

Diagnosis. This species is similar to H. foveata sp. nov., the differences are discussed in the diagnosis of H. foveata sp. nov.

Description. Female (holotype): Total length 5.40. Prosoma 2.15 long, 1.80 wide; opisthosoma 3.30 long, 1.50 wide. Carapace light yellowish brown with grayish black stripes. Ocular area grayish black with grayish, white scales. Eye measurements: AME 0.09, ALE 0.21, PME 0.17, PLE 0.18, AME-AME 0.10; AME-ALE 0.06; PME-PME 0.22; PME-PLE 0.29. Eye row width measurement: I 0.25, II 0.60, III 1.05, IV 0.56. Clypeus height 0.36. Sternum light yellow, marginally brown; chelicera yellow; labium and endites grayish brown, chelicera with 2 pro- (1 large, 1 small) and 1 large retromarginal teeth. Legs grayish brown. Leg measurements: I 9.10 (2.60, 3.30, 2.20, 1.00); II 8.35 (2.30, 3.10, 2.05, 0.90); III 6.30 (1.90, 2.20, 1.50, 0.70); IV 6.50 (2.00, 2.10, 1.65, 0.75), leg formula: 1243. Opisthosoma dorsally with longitudinal, wide, yellowish white markings; laterally with dark grayish brown stripes; ventrally with grayish black marking mesally.

Epigynum ( Figs 8 View FIGURE 8 B–C, 9A–B). Epigynum wider than long, copulatory openings at the anterior part; copulatory ducts twisted, spermatheca slightly thicker than copulatory ducts.

Male: Unknown.

Variation. Total length: Ƥ 5.20–6.50 (n=8).
