Type species: Sphex niveatus Dufour, 1853 , designated by Pate 1937:15.

Group of niveatus of Bohart & Menke 1963.

Diagnosis. Claws with two ventral teeth, male antenna without placoids, free margin of female clypeus entire, and metasoma with pale fasciae, metapleuron definitely channeled.

Distribution. Arid and semi-arid areas of Palearctic.
