According to the original tag on the jar, three syntypes (HE 1219–1221; Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5. A ) of H. asper are in the MADUG. Unfortunately, Dugès’ original description does not list the number of specimens he used to describe the species, and as was the custom of the time, no holotype was designated either. Measurements of only one specimen are reported in the description; we assume these are metric, but the unit of measurement is not given. Thireau (1986) reported two additional syntypes in the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris (MNHP 1082 (two specimens). The type locality given is the same as that in the original description. Our conclusion is that Dugès took some of the syntypes with him to Mexico; these comprise a total of five specimens.
