(Figs 1739-1743; Hab. E 257, G 258)
Caldencyrtus mitchelli Noyes & Hanson, 1996:116-117 View in CoL . Holotype E, Costa Rica, NHMUK, examined.
DIAGNOSIS. Female (length about 1.9-2.2mm): antennal scape (Fig. 1741) dark brown; scutellum with anterior half conspicuously duller coppery purple contrasting with brighter blue-green of posterior half; fore tibia dark brown, extreme apex amber; mid femur dark brown with apices amber; mid tibia dark brown proximally, dusky yellow distally; hind tibia almost entirely dark brown, apex amber; eye separated from occipital margin by very nearly 2X diameter of facet, occipital margin rounded at nearest point to eye; vertex with broadly oval, shiny bottomed depression adjacent to eye, conspicuously smaller than diameter of posterior ocellus and a little behind it; frontovertex with inconspicuous, shallow piliferous punctures; antenna (Fig. 1741) with pedicel about 1.7X as long as broad, F1 shorter than pedicel but about as wide and about 1.4-1.6X as long as broad; F6 quadrate or clearly transverse; flagellum slightly shorter than head width; fore wing with venation and distribution of setae as in Figs 1739, 1742; propodeum extending a little way past posterior margin of propodeum; posterolateral angle of propodeum with only a very short, truncate tooth posteriorly above hind coxa, area between tooth and spiracle convex not depressed; gaster slightly shorter than thorax; syntergum about 0.6X as long as mid tibia; mid tibial spur slightly longer than basitarsus; hypopygium with posterior margin not strongly incised, the incised part not more than about 0.3X as long as mid tibial spur; ovipositor about as long as mid tibia or 1.7X as long as syntergum and about 4X as long as gonostylus. Male (length about 1.6-2.0mm): antenna (Fig. 1743) with F1 at most about 2X as long as broad, as wide as pedicel, with at least 30 longitudinal sensilla, each of which is not more than 0.2X as long as segment; aedeagus (Fig. 1740) with pores separated from apex by about their own diameters, apex hardly acute; setae on each side of phallobase relatively far apart, separated by at least 2.5X diameter of socket.
DISTRIBUTION. Costa Rica.
HOSTS. Reared from galls formed by Trioza Förster magnoliae group ( Hemiptera : Triozidae ) on leaves of Cinnamomum hammelianum (W.C. Burger) ( Laurales : Lauraceae ) ( Noyes & Hanson, 1996).
