Schlüter (1976) described Glabellula kuehnei based on a single female specimen from Miocene Dominican amber. The original description in Schlüter (1976) gives all the salient characters and can serve to identify the species. Among the material examined in this study is the first male specimen, which compares very well with the characters of the female holotype.

TYPE. Holotype female from the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: exact locality unknown. Deposited in FUB. The holotype is the only inclusion in a dark orangebrown amber piece that measures approximately 5 x 10 mm. The amber piece is glued to a microscope slide. The slide was broken in two pieces in transit but the amber was not damaged. The slide carries a white slide label: “ Schlüter, 1976 det. Bomb. O. Dom.” and a red type label: “ Glabellula kuehnei sp.n. Typus ”.

OTHER MATERIAL EXAMINED. DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: 1 female, exact locality unknown, DR141325 ( AMNH); 1 female, exact locality unknown, DR14872 ( AMNH) [the Glabellula specimen is in the same piece as a phorid fly specimen]; 1 female, exact locality unknown, DR1439 ( AMNH); 1 male, 1 female in same piece, exact locality unknown, DR141429 ( AMNH); 1 female, exact locality unknown, DR14 1498 ( AMNH); 1 female, exact locality unknown, [no number] ( AMNH).

REMARKS. The additional amber material of this species that has become available since the original description serves to corroborate the characters given by Schlüter. A comparison of the type female and the other amber specimens shows little variation in the characters of the species.
