Notes
Questionable status. Often confused with Prionospio dubia Maciolek, 1985 and several Greek specimens identified as Prionospio steenstrupi in fact belong to the former (see discussion there). In addition, Sigvaldadóttir and Mackie (1993) restrict its distribution to the coast of Iceland and consider all other reports doubtful. However, Dağli and Çınar (2009) confirm the presence of Prionospio steenstrupi in Turkey. Reported from the Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic and Indian Ocean.
