Holopyga purpurea Smith, 1860: 68 View Cited Treatment . Holotype ♀: Indonesia: Sulawesi: Makassar (HCOE).
Holopyga purpurea Smith : Mocsáry 1889: 119; Dalla Torre 1892: 28; Bischoff 1913: 13.

Material examined. Holotype: ♀, INDONESIA: Sulawesi, Mak[assar] / golden label / Holopyga purpurea Smith .
Diagnosis. Leptopareia purpurea ( Smith, 1860) resembles L. borneana ( Cameron, 1908) and L. luzonensis sp. nov. for general habitus, complete notauli with deep notaular pits; but it can be separated from the latter two by micro-punctures covering pronotum and mesoscutum entirely and mesoscutellum antero-medially.
Redescription. Female. Holotype. Body length 7.5 mm. OOL = 2.3 MOD; POL = 1.8 MOD; relative length of P:F1:F2:F3 = 1:1:0.8:0.8.
Head. Head with deep and dense punctures ( Fig. 9B View FIGURE 9 ) on frons and vertex. Scapal basin deep, with elongated arched wrinkles. Occipital area beneath ocellar area micro-punctate. Postocellar line deep and continuous. Gena with fine and oblique wrinkles and micro-punctures.
Mesosoma. Pronotum and mesonotum micro-punctate; pronotum with row of pits on anterior margin, and some punctures on lateral margins. Notaular pits small and deep, round, notauli distinct and complete ( Fig. 9C View FIGURE 9 ). Mesoscutellum without anterior foveae, micro-punctate antero-medially ( Fig. 9C View FIGURE 9 ); metanotum punctate, evenly with large punctures equally interspaced ( Fig. 9C View FIGURE 9 ). Mesopleuron punctate. Tarsal claw with four teeth.
Metasoma. T1, T2 and T3 micro-punctate ( Fig. 9D View FIGURE 9 ). T2 and T3 with wide brown semitransparent rims. Apex of T3 slightly depressed ( Fig. 9F View FIGURE 9 ).
Colouration. Body entirely metallic blue with weak green reflections laterally. Scape, pedicel and F1 metallic blue; rest of flagellum black, without metallic reflections. Tegula metallic blue. Legs metallic greenish-blue, first tarsomere brown with metallic reflection.
Male. Unknown.
Distribution. Indonesia (Sulawesi).
