Large-eye Dragonfish. To more than 22 cm (8.7 in) SL. Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to northern Japan ( Balanov et al. 2009), and Russian north-western Pacific ( Orlov and Tokranov 2019); southern Bering Sea, Alaska, Gulf of Alaska and Washington ( Stevenson et al. 2009); also eastern Pacific in North Central Gyre at latitude of central Baja California (27°27’N, 155°27’W) (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Mesopelagic and bathypelagic; depth: 240–4,463 m (787–14,642 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Mecklenburg 2002).
