Not recorded from Madeira by Hureau in Whitehead et al. (1986: 955-956) or by Roux in Quéro et al. (1990: 898), even though the species is common there. Recorded from Madeira by, for instance, Wirtz (1994: 110), with a colour photo from Madeira.
