Atherina boyeri Risso, 1810 View in CoL —Big-scale sand smelt

The species is easily confused with A. presbyter View in CoL . The sample ZMH 13570 ( 4 specimens, Funchal, Madeira, d'Abreu Nunes, 4 June 1930), originally identified as A. boyeri View in CoL , was re-identified by us as A. presbyter View in CoL . The presence of A. boyeri View in CoL at Madeira appears very doubtful.
