Liza ramado ( Risso, 1810) View in CoL —Thinlip mullet

Risso (1810: 344) originally described this species under the name Mugil cephalus ramado View in CoL . In a later publication ( Risso, 1827: 390), he spelled the species name ramada. Subsequent authors used the spelling of Risso (1827); only Fricke (1999: 43) used the original name as Liza ramado View in CoL . Eschmeyer (2004) suggests using the original spelling. Specimen needed for confirmation.

We consider this a very doubtful record.

Oedalechilus labeo (Cuvier, 1829) —Boxlip mullet

Recorded by Wirtz (1994: 52), with a photo of the species taken at Madeira. Record confirmed by specimens examined, SMNS 25013 (4, Seixal).
