Nigilgia View in CoL sp.
( Figs 26 View FIGURES 18 – 27 , 36 View FIGURES 33 – 36 )
Material examined. 1Ƥ, [ Indonesia, West Papua] “New Guinea (NW), 100m, 11km SE of Oeberfaren, 10–17. VII. 1959 / M. V. Light Trap / T.C. Maa collector, BISHOP” (USNM).
This specimen represents an unnamed species. It is similar to N. atribractea sp. nov. but larger (alar expanse 18 mm) with a bright white fringe of the hindwings. Furthermore it differs by the color of the forewing scales, which have a white spot at distal end (in the centre of the scale in N. atribractea sp. nov.). This species has a very characteristic genitalia morphology that places it close to Nigilgia diehli Kallies, 2000 from Sumatra. The female genitalia (Gen. Prep. AK28, Fig. 36 View FIGURES 33 – 36 ) show a ductus bursae that gradually widens towards the bursa, a bursa with a rough, tongue-shaped area near the entrance of the ductus and two signa (a small irregular structure and a larger disc-like structure). Due to its unresolved relationship to the Australian species of Nigilgia , which are currently under revision, this species is not described herein.
