Remarks. The phylogenetic relationships within Chone were assessed by Tovar-Hernández (2008), using morphological characters obtained mostly from the study of type material and revising some features such as: dentition of thoracic uncini, shape of anterior and posterior abdominal uncini, and the extent of a pre-pygidial depression. The analysis revealed the existence of three monophyletic genera previously assigned to Chone : Dialychone Claparède, 1870 , Paradialychone Tovar-Hernández, 2008 and Chone sensu stricto. The genus Chone is composed of 12 species, three of these were described from South America : Chone insularis Nonato, 1981 , from Ilha Grande ( Brazil) [nomen nudum]; Chone rosea Hartmann-Schröder, 1965 , from off southern Chile ; and Chone striata Hartmann-Schröder, 1965 , from Bahía Inglés ( Chile) ( Table 1).

Chone paracincta Hartmann-Schröder, 1962 View in CoL (from Callao, Peru), Chone diazi View in CoL and C. johnstonae View in CoL Tovar- Hernández, 2005 (both described from Venezuela), and C. eiffelturris Tovar-Hernández, 2007 View in CoL (from Panama), were transferred to Paradialychone View in CoL by Tovar-Hernández (2008). In the present study, a new species of Chone View in CoL is described from the Golfo de San Matías ( Argentina).
