Type species: Caecilia ochrocephala Cope, 1866 by original designation. Diagnosis: The only caeciliids with the eyes covered by bone.
Distribution: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru. Content: Nine species ( bassleri , elongata , equatorialis , hypereumeces , koepckeorum , ochrocephala , osae , polyzona , zwiefeli).
