Type species: Geotrypetes grandisonae Taylor, 1970 by original designation and monotypy. Diagnosis: The only indotyphlids with eyes and tentacular grooves not covered by bone, tentacular apertures not adjacent to or above the level of the eyes, and olfactory chambers lacking bony eminentia olfactoria. Distribution: Ethiopia.
