Generic name first published in synonymy with Ceratopogon but available under ICZN Code Article 11(e). Euforcipomyia Malloch, 1915: 312 . Type species: Euforcipomyia hirtipennis Malloch (= Ceratopogon palustris Meigen ), by original designation.
