Genus Stenancistrocerus de Saussure, 1863 View in CoL
Stenancistrocerus de Saussure 1863: 216 View in CoL (division of subgenus Ancistrocerus Wesmael, 1836 of genus Odynerus Latreille, 1802 View in CoL ). Type species: Odynerus atropos Lepeletier de Saint-Fargeau, 1841 , by subsequent designation of Bequaert 1925: 63; van der Vecht & Fischer 1972: 57–58; Kurzenko 1977: 551; 1981: 108; Gusenleitner 1988: 112; 2000: 61–62; 2013a: 76–77 View Cited Treatment ; 2015: 1327–1382; Castro & Dvořák 2009: 299; Oehlke 2012: 599; Antropov & Fateryga 2017: 189.
Atropancistrocerus Blüthgen 1938: 444 , 461. Type species: Odynerus (Ancistrocerus) hispanicus Dusmet y Alonso, 1903 , by original designation; synonymized by Giordani Soika 1939: 77–78.
Diagnosis. Wasps of the genus Stenancistrocerus differ from other genera of the tribe Odynerini (sensu Hermes et al. 2014) by combination of the following characters: anterior face of pronotum with foveae; tegula protruding posteriorly, finely punctate; postscutellum sharply edged posteriorly; propodeal valvula bilamellate; tergum 1 not petiolate, with transverse carina; distal part of vertical face of tergum 1 smooth, without distinct punctures; both terga 1 and 2 without apical lamella; sternum 2 flat or evenly concave, not angulated at the base ( Kurzenko 1981; Gusenleitner 2013a; Tan et al. 2018a, 2018b). Representatives of the genus are small and slender wasps.
Subgenera included. The genus includes two subgenera: Paratropancistrocerus Blüthgen, 1938 [type species: Odynerus (Ancistrocerus) transcaspicus Kostylev, 1935 , by original designation] has clypeus in both sexes with rather shallow emargination with very small tooth in its center or without it; Stenancistrocerus s. str. has clypeus in both sexes with deep emargination with distinct tooth in its center ( Gusenleitner 2013a).
Species included. Stenancistrocerus (Paratropancistrocerus) biblicus ( Giordani Soika, 1952) ( Jordan, Israel), S. (P.) excoriatus ( Morawitz, 1895) ( Turkmenistan) , S. (P.) obstrictus ( Morawitz, 1895) ( Russia, Transcaucasia), S. (P.) punjabensis ( Nurse, 1903) ( India) , S. (P.) transcaspicus ( Kostylev, 1935) ( Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China), S. (Stenancistrocerus) alluaudi (Dusmet y Alonso, 1925) ( Morocco, Algeria), S. (S.) atropos ( Lepeletier de Saint-Fargeau, 1841) ( Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya), S. (S.) hispanicus (Dusmet y Alonso, 1903) ( Spain) , S. (S.) leonhardi Gusenleitner, 2015 ( Oman) .
