Two of the three species in this genus are recorded for Ecuador. Species are variable in color pattern, being either brown and black or mostly red ( Fig. 86 View FIGURE 86 ). See Needham et al. (2014) for species identification. Habitat consists of various ponds and swamps, even brackish water, usually vegetated.
