Of the two species in this genus, one occurs in Ecuador. The bright yellow face is distinctive; the thorax is blue on the sides with black stripes and the abdomen is mostly black with the tip blue ( Fig. 25 View FIGURE 25 ). Habitat consists of small, clear, open lakes and ponds with floating vegetation. See Williamson & Williamson (1930b) and González-Soriano et al. (2004) for identification.
